Mollie Jennings - Branchville High School '12

Mollie Jennings - Branchville High School '12
Mollie Jennings, January's Alumni Spotlight recipient, Branchville High 2012

Jennings, a lifelong Branchville resident, graduated from Branchville High School in 2012, where she thrived academically, athletically, and through student leadership. She was an honor roll student, finished in the top 10 of her graduating class, and earned Most Valuable Player honors her senior year as the school’s softball catcher. In addition to athletics, Jennings served as business manager for the yearbook and was an active member of Future Farmers of America (FFA).

Jennings shared that several teachers left a lasting impact on her academic and personal growth, including Tony Ott, Deborah McConnell, Walter Luthers, and others who consistently encouraged her to push herself and believe in her abilities. Following high school, Jennings attended Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, where she earned a degree in Physical Therapy and completed her studies in 2016. Today, she serves as a Physical Therapist Assistant and Director of Rehabilitation, working with elderly patients at a local skilled nursing facility.

Jennings says her passion for rehabilitation began early, dating back to a fifth-grade school project where she wrote about her dream career. “I knew then what I wanted to do. Looking back now, it’s overwhelming in the best way to realize I achieved exactly what I set out to do,” she said.

In her current role, Jennings works closely with elderly patients, many of whom are members of the same community she grew up in. She finds fulfillment in helping individuals recover and regain independence, while continuing to serve close to home. When asked about the role Orangeburg County School District played in her development, Jennings emphasized the importance of opportunity, personal attention, and family-like support. “The educators weren’t focused on making themselves look good, they genuinely wanted our futures to be brighter. That made a huge difference,” she expressed.

Jennings credits her parents as her greatest inspiration, noting their work ethic, perseverance, and commitment to education. Their example motivated her to pursue higher education and build a meaningful career rooted in service. Today, Jennings remains deeply connected to the Branchville community. Both of her children attend school in Branchville, a testament to the trust she continues to place in the district that helped shape her life. “I believe in this community and these schools. They helped mold who I am today,” she said.

Orangeburg County School District Superintendent Dr. Shawn D. Foster expressed, “Orangeburg County School District proudly celebrates Mollie Jennings as a shining example of how strong schools, dedicated educators, and supportive communities help students discover their purpose and come full circle, giving back to the very places that helped them grow.”
