Ms. Rhonda Jennings

Hello and Welcome to the  2022-2023  6 th grade Social Studies .   I have had the pleasure of calling Carver Edisto my home school for the past 20 years.  During this time I have  taught 6th  grade math, 6th grade Science and currently 6th grade Social Studies.   I believe understanding the past is significant to living in the present.

I have completed my Bachelors and Masters degrees. Currently I am pursuing my Doctorate degree from Walden University.

On a personal note, I enjoy learning new ideas and getting away to the beach and cooking .  I have two sons,, a daughter in law ( all products of Orangeburg Consolidated School District 4) . Also, I have 2 granddaughters, Peyton and Parker.

This year I am so excited to journey into this new and amazing world of Social Studies with my 6th graders.

I know that WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A FABULOUS YEAR! with our new technology !!!!!!

Office Hours

  • Fridays 10:00 to 10:45  a.m.

Expectations

  • Our  class this year will meet on A or B days.  Students are expected to log into  Canvas and complete each module for the week..   A module will include classwork, homework, and practice tests.  A quiz  or test  is given weekly to assess the students knowledge of weekly topics.

The focus for sixth grade social studies is to expand students’ understanding of history through the study of people and events before the last 400 years of world history. This is meant to give a better understanding of the world in which they live. This study focuses not only on the significance of geography in the development of the human story but also on the everyday lives, problems, and accomplishments of the people and their roles in developing social, economic, and political structures of life today. Projects and class assignments will be incorporated using technology with the understanding that research skills are an integral part of the Social Studies curriculum. Students will be shown a variety of clips from historical movies, all are edited for middle school history.
