Ms. Barbara Capers
Greetings!
I am a native of Holly Hill, South Carolina. I attended Roberts High and Holly Hill-Roberts High School, Home of the Tigers, then Bulldogs! After graduating from high school, I enrolled at South Carolina State, where I enrolled in JROTC and received a 4-year scholarship. Four years later, I earned a degree in Criminal Justice and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the United States Army Military Police Corps. While in the military, I pursued a Masters Degree in Security Management.
After retiring from the US Army, I used one year to release, relax, and recharge. In Orangeburg County Consolidated School District Three, I held the following positions: Parent Coordinator, Youth Counselor with MAPPS, Supervisor with MAPPS, and School Counselor.
I currently serve in the role of Lead School Counselor. My caseload consists of students in grades 9-12 and last names beginning with G - N. I am compassionate about service, humbled in my work ethics and strive every day to give my best. I believe that if I am gifted enough to help one person along the way, then the giving of my service has not been in vain. I am honored to serve and give back to the community where I grew up.
I enjoy reading and traveling. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

My office hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

First, I expect students, parents, and educators to work together with the common goal of productivity after attending a 2/4-year college or technical school, after securing employment or joining the Armed Forces. Secondly, my expectations include promoting Education, Employment, Enlistment, and Entrepreneurship. My final expectation is in keeping with the mission of Lake Marion High School - for all students to be Educated, Inspired, and Empowered lifelong learners.
