-
We are so excited to offer our newest dual enrollment program in partnership with Claflin University. The Growing Future Educators Program is open to current 8th-grade students who reside in Orangeburg County and plan to enroll in the district for the 2023-2024 school year.
To qualify for the GFE program, students must meet prerequisite coursework requirements and have the academic discipline to pursue post-secondary coursework while in high school.
As with many innovative educational pathways to a high school degree and beyond, the Growing Future Educators Program is appropriate for a wide variety of young people, including those currently identified as Gifted and Talented as well as all other learners. Encountering the rigor, depth, and intensity of college work is beneficial to all students.
A limited cohort of 20 students will be admitted into the program for the 2023-2024 school year. Current enrollment in and completion of Algebra I and English I with a C average or above is a pre-requisite for the GFE program.
The GFE application contains 5 sections which must be completed in their entirety and submitted to be considered for the program:
- Section 1 – Demographic Information
- Section 2 – Letters of Recommendation (Names and contact info only)
- Section 3 – Free Response Questions
- Section 4 – 250 Word Essay
- Section 5 – ACCUPLACER
The application window will open on March 1, 2023, and close on March 31, 2023, at 11:59 PM EST.
