ORANGEBURG, S.C. – OCSD proudly announces that lauded educator Dr. Rena Bowman will be joining the federal programs team. Dr. Bowman’s expertise in school leadership will make immediate positive impacts on the District’s federal programs. For the past seven years, Dr. Bowman has served the students, parents, and community at Rivelon Elementary School.
Dr. Bowman firmly believes in family, community, and cooperation. She nurtured the school culture at Rivelon, resulting in perseverance, determination, positivity, and success. She is proud of the Rivelon family's commitment and passion for educating their students, which she now has an opportunity to share district-wide.
Also, considered to be her most important job, Dr. Bowman is a selfless child advocate. Expecting the best that her students had to offer, she wants all students to learn to read and be healthy, happy, and safe, all while learning as much as possible.
“Dr. Bowman is a one-of-a-kind servant leader, who gives her all while educating our children," said Dr. Shawn Foster, OCSD Superintendent. "I am excited about Dr. Bowman joining our federal programs team, as I know she will positively impact our program of work," Foster continued.
Dr. Bowman will transition into her new role in August 2023 after serving OCSD as a principal for over a decade.
