ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School (OWHS) proudly announces that  30-year veteran Henry Howard will be the Interim Head Boys’ Basketball Coach. Howard is goal-oriented and creative and has experience in increasing player performance, win-loss ratios, and developing leaders on and off the court. Coaching high school and collegiate teams, Howard has the proven ability to improve season records and garner team support by increasing game attendance. In addition, he is dedicated to student and staff development and skillfully secured State Division championship appearances.

As assistant basketball coach at OWHS since 2010, Coach Howard has been responsible for ensuring that the student-athletes are prepared for life after OWHS and basketball. To that end, he developed a tutoring program to improve the grades of athletes' grades and encouraged them to pursue advanced academic courses. He is also laser-focused on developing and enhancing the life skills that our students possess discipline, respect, and grit).

Before joining the Bruin family, Coach Howard was the Head Basketball Coach for the SC 76ers – AAU Basketball Program and the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Claflin University.

Coach Howard is an alumna of Claflin University and holds a bachelor of science degree in Physical Education. He is also first aid, CPR, and sports management certified.
