Elloree Elementary School Principal
ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Keisha Martin-Houston, a veteran OCSD educator, has been appointed the new principal of Elloree Elementary School.
Martin-Houston has unwaveringly served OCSD as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, and now principal. She commenced her career in education in 1996 as a teacher at Robert E. Howard Middle School and most recently served as the assistant principal at Bethune-Bowman PreK-12 campus.
At Bethune-Bowman, Martin Houston worked closely with the principal daily to ensure the efficient overall operation of the school, served as the curriculum assistant principal for grades PreK – 12, assembled and analyzed data to obtain school goals, assisted the principal in identifying personnel needs and participated in the selection of instructional and non-instructional personnel for the school, conducted SAFE-T evaluations, classroom evaluations, and walk-throughs and other responsibilities to support the seamless management and support of a school.
Martin-Houston believes all students can learn anything if placed in a positive environment. She goes on to share that how quickly they learn depends upon the child's ability and the effectiveness of the school setting. And finally, she asserts that we as educators must ensure that the school's culture is positive and that the school exists to promote learning and empower all students to compete and succeed globally.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, a Master of Education degree in Guidance Education, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from South Carolina State University.
Martin-Houston’s vision is to develop well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals who aspire to achieve their full potential. To achieve her vision, she will provide a welcoming, happy, safe, and supportive learning environment in which everyone is equal and all achievements are celebrated.
She begins her role as principal of Elloree Elementary School on July 16, 2023.
