ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of "Gator Style Studio," a state-of-the-art, full-service salon located within the Cosmetology Department at Lake Marion Technology Center (LMTC). The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

This modern salon is managed and operated by students and is designed to provide a comprehensive, hands-on experience that will prepare them for careers in the rapidly growing beauty and wellness industry. "Gator Style Studio" will offer a wide range of services, including nails, facials, makeup, hair care, braids, and coloring.

"We are incredibly proud of the effort, creativity, and professionalism our students have demonstrated in creating 'Gator Style Studio.' This salon will serve as a real-world laboratory where they can grow their skills, develop creativity, and interact with clients, all while adhering to industry standards,” said Vondella Smith-Richardson, LMTC Cosmetology Instructor. “It's not just about learning; it's about thriving in a setting that mirrors the opportunities out there in the professional world," added Smith-Richardson.

The "Gator Style Studio" will not only serve as a training ground for future professionals but also as a community resource, offering high-quality beauty and wellness services to the public at a fraction of the cost of commercial salons.
