OCSD Superintendent urges continued COVID-19 precautions over the holidays.

With the holidays upon us, we invite you to watch a video message from Orangeburg's Superintendent Dr. Shawn Foster regarding recommended precautions for COVID-19 prevention.

The same is available as well in the information below:

Parents and Guardians:
Public Health authorities have recently released updated guidance on travelling and gathering with family and friends over the upcoming holidays. As we near Thanksgiving and Winter Break, our hope is that your family will continue practicing recommended procedures for COVID-19 prevention, including wearing a facemask, social distancing, and remaining aware of any coronavirus symptoms.
If your family does decide to travel or gather with extended family and friends over Thanksgiving and doesn’t strictly follow COVID-19 precautions, we would encourage your student(s) to engage in learning virtually when we return from Thanksgiving for a period of 14 days in an effort to protect the health of school employees and other students. In addition, we’d also recommend that your family be tested for coronavirus.
There are no- and low-cost options throughout our community for coronavirus testing, which provide an opportunity for each of us to help stop the spread of this novel infectious disease. Please visit South Carolina DHEC’s website at for testing locations and other information such as cost, whether or not they test children, and, if so, what, if any, age restrictions that they may have.
We thank you for your continued commitment to the health and safety of our schools and community and wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving.
