Four Students are Recognized as 2020-21 SC Junior Scholars

The South Carolina Junior Scholars Program was developed by the State Department of Education during the 1985-86 school year, to identify eighth-grade students with exceptional academic talent, and to develop strategies for inclusion into special programs.

The program includes a process for screening a potential talent pool of students, identifying, and recognizing those students with exceptionally high scholastic achievement and intellectual ability, and sponsoring summer opportunities in collaboration with participating South Carolina colleges and universities.

To qualify as a Junior Scholar, the student must score a 550 or higher score on the Evidence Based reading and writing section, or a 530 or higher on the math section of the PSAT/NMSQT.

We would like to recognize the following eighth-grade students who qualified as a 2020-21 South Carolina Junior Scholar, Andrew Blyther from North Middle/High School, Cameron Walker from William J. Clark Middle School, Addison Jameson from Carver-Edisto Middle School, and Ava Jameson from Edisto Middle School.

These students will receive an Award of Merit certificate from the State Department of Education and will be invited to attend summer opportunities at participating South Carolina colleges and universities.

Congratulations to our SC Junior Scholars on their academic success.
