Bethune-Bowman Middle/High School proudly celebrates senior standout Terrance McFadden, a two-time South Carolina All-State Basketball Player who continues to elevate the Mohawk Basketball Program to new heights. McFadden was named the 2026 Region 5 Player of the Year, earned First Team All-Region honors for three consecutive seasons, and was selected as a Preseason Top 5 Senior in Class A for the Class of 2026. Over the course of his remarkable high school career, he has surpassed 1,200 career points, a milestone that reflects his dedication, consistency, and competitive spirit. Adding to his list of achievements, McFadden has been selected to participate in the prestigious North-South All-Star Game, scheduled for March 27-28. He will represent not only Bethune-Bowman, but also Region 5 and the entire community on the state stage.

Throughout his tenure, McFadden has played an integral role in one of the most successful stretches in program history. Under his leadership, the Mohawks have secured:

•       Two State Championship Appearances
•       Three Consecutive Region Championships
•       Three Straight Appearances in the Lower State Championship Game
•       Two Lower State Championship Victories

Bethune-Bowman Varsity Boys Head Coach Charles McCray praised Terrance McFadden’s impact on and off the court, expressing, “Terrance is one of the top players in the state. He understands his role, embraces being a team player, and leads by example. He embodies what it means to be a champion, selfless, confident, and deeply committed to his teammates. The love and care he shows for those around him is remarkable. These young men play with heart, which is why our theme this year is ‘Spread Love.’ Terrance sets the standard for what it means to lead with both skill and character.”

McFadden’s accomplishments speak volumes, but his influence reaches even further, inspiring younger student-athletes, uplifting teammates, and representing the Mohawk community with pride and excellence. As he prepares to compete in the North-South All-Star Game, Bethune-Bowman celebrates not only a decorated athlete but a young man whose commitment and character define what it means to be a Mohawk. His toughness, leadership, and passion for the game have made him the heartbeat of the team and a cornerstone of the program’s continued success.

Fred Styles, Athletic Director at Bethune-Bowman Middle/High School, has witnessed McFadden’s journey firsthand, dating back to his elementary school days. “I coached Terrance when he was in the fifth grade. That team honestly re-sparked my coaching career, and Terrance has been a blessing to our school ever since. There aren’t too many Terrance’s out there when it comes to athletics. He’s a role model, he handles his business in the classroom, and he’s never been a problem. He’s the main reason our basketball team has had the success it’s had,” Styles mentioned.

In the Lower State Championship against Carvers Bay High School, Bethune-Bowman demonstrated composure and determination in overcoming a 14-point deficit to earn a hard-fought victory. Terrance McFadden and his teammates remained focused, making key defensive stops and executing efficiently on the offensive end to steadily close the gap. Their disciplined approach and trust in one another allowed them to regain control of the game and ultimately secure the win. With the victory, the Mohawks advanced to the State Championship Game.

Dr. Shawn D. Foster, Superintendent, Orangeburg County School District, added, “We are incredibly proud of Terrance McFadden and the entire Bethune-Bowman Mohawks basketball program. Terrance’s talent, work ethic, and leadership both on and off the court exemplify the values we strive to instill in all our student-athletes. His dedication has helped lead the team to remarkable achievements, and he represents not only his school but our entire community with pride and excellence.”
