Shoes on a table gifted to Mellichamp Elem. students

Students at Mellichamp Elementary School are stepping into the new school year with confidence thanks to a generous donation from the Boys & Girls Club on Cannon Bridge Road. The Club recently gifted Mellichamp students with brand-new shoes and school uniform shirts, as well as various school supplies, ensuring they are ready for a successful start to the year.

The donation not only meets a practical need but also sends a powerful message of care and community support.

"We are so grateful to the Boys & Girls Club for their kindness and generosity," said Dr. LaToya Glen, principal of Mellichamp Elementary School. "For many of our students, having new shoes and uniform shirts means walking into school with pride and a sense of belonging. This gift is about more than clothing; it’s about showing our children that their community believes in them and wants to see them succeed."

Orangeburg County School District Superintendent Dr. Shawn D. Foster praised the partnership and the positive impact on students. "When community organizations step forward to support our children, they are investing in the future of Orangeburg," said Dr. Foster. "The Boys & Girls Club has shown once again that it takes all of us working together to create the best opportunities for our students to thrive, inside and outside the classroom."

This act of generosity is one of many examples of how the Boys & Girls Club and Orangeburg County School District work hand-in-hand to provide students with the resources they need to succeed.
