Branchville High’s Zion Clark Signs to Play Basketball at Denmark Technical College

Branchville High School (BHS) celebrated a proud milestone as senior student-athlete Zion Clark officially signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Denmark Technical College, where he will play collegiate basketball. Clark, who has made a strong impact during his time at Branchville, was recognized during a signing ceremony attended by family, teammates, coaches, and school leaders. Speakers throughout the program highlighted not only his performance on the court, but also his work ethic in the classroom and his positive influence within the school community.

School administrators praised Clark as a model student-athlete whose dedication and character set him apart. They noted that although he has been part of the Branchville community for a short time, he quickly made a lasting impression through his leadership, determination, and infectious spirit.

Coaches who have worked with Clark throughout his basketball journey reflected on his growth over the years, describing him as a high-energy competitor whose passion for the game and resilience through life’s challenges have shaped him into the player he is today. They emphasized that his signing represents not only a personal achievement but also an example for younger athletes striving to earn opportunities through hard work and perseverance. He earned All-Region honors this season, further demonstrating his impact on the court and helping solidify his path to the collegiate level. His signing also marks a significant moment for Branchville’s basketball program, as he becomes one of the program’s recent athletes to advance to the next level.

Natrone Davis, head boys’ basketball coach at BHS, shared, “I’ve had the privilege of coaching Zion for seven years, from travel ball through high school, and watching his growth has been special. He’s helped make me a better coach by setting the standard for his teammates through his work ethic and leadership. As my first signee as a head coach, I couldn’t be prouder of him and all he’s accomplished.”

Clark’s family expressed gratitude to his coaches, teachers, and mentors for their support, crediting the school and athletic program for helping him reach this milestone. They encouraged him to continue pushing forward, reminding him that dedication and faith have guided him this far and will continue to lead him to success. As he prepares for the transition to college athletics, Zion leaves behind a legacy of determination, energy, and leadership. The Branchville community looks forward to watching his continued growth both academically and athletically at Denmark Technical College.

Dr. Shawn D. Foster, Superintendent of Orangeburg County School District, stated, “Zion’s signing represents the very best of what we hope for our students: commitment, perseverance, and a willingness to grow both academically and athletically. We are proud of the leadership he has shown at Branchville High School and excited to see him continue his journey at the collegiate level. He is a great reflection of his family, his coaches, and our school community.”
