Three Student-Athletes at Edisto High School Sign to Continue Athletic Careers

Edisto High School proudly recognizes three outstanding student-athletes who officially signed to continue their academic and athletic journeys at the collegiate level. Kamara Chavis (softball), Jamon Boatwright (football), and Chris Hampton (football) represent a major milestone for the school’s athletic programs.

Kamara Chavis, a versatile utility player at Edisto High School, has committed to Penn State Beaver, becoming the program’s first signee since 2019. That year, her coach, Hayden Player, signed to compete at the collegiate level. Known for her adaptability, leadership, and high game intelligence, Chavis consistently made an impact wherever she was needed on the field, setting a new milestone for the program’s continued growth and success.

Jamon Boatwright, a dominant offensive lineman for the Edisto Cougar football team, signed with Anderson University. A key leader on the field, Boatwright’s strength, discipline, and consistency earned him All-Area First Team honors. Boatwright’s size, strength, and football intelligence made him a key protector up front and opened running lanes that fueled the Cougars’ offensive success throughout the season.

Chris Hampton, another standout offensive lineman, will continue his football career at Bethany College. Hampton’s physical play and relentless work ethic earned him the opportunity to compete in the Blitz Bowl, highlighting his talent among top regional athletes. His dedication and toughness made him a dependable force on the offensive line.

“These three student-athletes have set a new standard for Edisto athletics. Kamara’s signing brings softball back into the spotlight for our program, and Jamon and Chris have helped lay the foundation for a strong future in Cougar football. Their hard work, commitment, and leadership will have a lasting impact on our school,” said Edisto High School Co-Athletic Director Marcus Livingston.

The signings reflect the continued growth and commitment of Edisto High School’s athletic programs, highlighting the dedication of student-athletes, coaches, and staff to academic excellence and competitive success. School leaders emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for students to pursue higher education through athletics while building a strong foundation for future Cougar teams.

Orangeburg County School District Superintendent, Dr. Shawn D. Foster expressed, “We congratulate Kamara Chavis, Jamon Boatwright, and Chris Hampton on their accomplishments and wish them continued success as they take the next step in their academic and athletic careers.
