The Orangeburg County School District is proud to announce the appointment of Alyssa Mitchell-Pelzer as Assistant Principal of Marshall Elementary School for the 2025–2026 academic year. 

Mrs. Mitchell-Pelzer brings over 14 years of dedicated service in education, having served in teaching and leadership roles across South Carolina and internationally. A proud graduate of Claflin University, she also holds advanced degrees from Walden University and Charleston Southern University in curriculum, instruction, supervision, and leadership. 

Her journey in education began as a high school volunteer at Lockett Elementary School, and most recently, she has served as Assistant Principal at Lockett, where her passion for academic excellence, team collaboration, and student growth has been widely recognized. 

“I am humbled and honored to join the Marshall Elementary family as Assistant Principal,” said Mrs. Mitchell-Pelzer. “This opportunity allows me to continue my passion for serving students and empowering teachers in an environment committed to equity, excellence, and continuous improvement. I look forward to partnering with the school community to help every child thrive.” 

Dr. Shawn D. Foster, Superintendent of Orangeburg County School District, praised the appointment, stating, “Alyssa Mitchell-Pelzer exemplifies the kind of servant leadership we value in Orangeburg County. Her commitment to student success and her ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and the community make her an outstanding choice for Marshall Elementary.
