Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) is inviting the community to make their mark on history during a special beam signing ceremony for the new Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, located at 825 Cook Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118. The beam will be located at the front entrance, in front of the construction trailer.

Community members are invited to sign the beam beginning Wednesday, September 10, at 8:00 a.m. through Tuesday, September 16, at 12:00 p.m. This beam will become a permanent part of the new school’s structure, symbolizing the strong connection between the school and its community.

The new Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, scheduled to open in Fall 2026, will replace the current campus located at 601 Bruin Drive, Orangeburg, SC 29115. The beam signing represents not only the progress of construction but also the community’s deep pride in the Bruin legacy and its commitment to future generations.

Superintendent Dr. Shawn D. Foster shared his excitement, “This beam signing is more than just a construction milestone, it’s a celebration of our community’s investment in education and a chance for every person to leave their mark on the future of Orangeburg-Wilkinson. Generations of Bruins have carried pride in this school, and today we honor that history while looking ahead to a new chapter,” Dr. Foster said.

Assistant Superintendent for Operations, Dr. Jesse Washington added, “Our students, families, and community members deserve state-of-the-art facilities that inspire learning and achievement. This new school will provide opportunities that match the excellence of our students and staff, and we’re proud to see so many people come together to support this vision,” he continued.

The new campus will feature modern classrooms, innovative learning spaces, and enhanced athletic and extracurricular facilities, reflecting the district’s commitment to preparing students for success in college, careers, and life. As construction continues, the beam signing will stand as a lasting reminder of the community’s role in building a future for Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School that honors its past while embracing progress.
