Jordan McGahee, OWHS, Earns Region & State Player of the Year Honors

Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School is proud to celebrate senior basketball standout Jordan McGahee for an extraordinary two-year run of athletic excellence, leadership, and growth on and off the court. During the 2025 season, Jordan earned All-Region honors in Region 6, Class AAA, and was named an All-State Selection in Class AAA, establishing himself as one of the premier players in South Carolina. He elevated his game even further in 2026, capturing Region 6 Player of the Year, Class AAA All-State Selection, and the prestigious Class AAA State Player of the Year award. Jordan was also selected to participate in the North-South All-Star Game, recognizing him among the top players in the state.

Jordan credits both his team’s success and his support system for his achievements. “Winning the region championship this year is my favorite memory from high school. It feels great being the Region Player of the Year and AAA Player of the Year. I worked hard for these achievements,” he expressed. He emphasized that consistency and dedication were critical to his development. Fans may remember Jordan previously wearing jersey number 24 before switching to number 2. The change, he says, was personal. “I always wanted number 2, but I was an underclassman, so I had to wait my turn. I just like the number,” Jordan explained. The trailblazing athlete also pointed to growth within the program as a major factor in his success.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School head basketball coach Kurtis Yarbrough praised McGahee’s impact, describing him as one of the most dominant and complete players in Class AAA. “Jordan’s performance this season has been nothing short of exceptional. He has established himself as the most dominant interior presence in Class AAA basketball. He plays down low, leading the classification in double-doubles and rebounds, ranks second in blocks per game, and is among the top scorers in field goals made. His consistency,  competitiveness, and leadership set him apart. When you combine his production, effort, and defensive presence, it’s clear Jordan is not just one of the best players in the region; he is the most complete and impactful player,” Yarbrough stated.

Jordan’s accomplishments reflect not only individual talent but also the strength of the Bruin basketball culture and community support surrounding the program. As he prepares for the next chapter, Orangeburg-Wilkinson celebrates a player whose work ethic, humility, and leadership leave a lasting legacy. Cedrick Simpson, Athletic Director at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, shared, “I’m incredibly proud of him. I’ve watched him grow from a freshman to where he is today, and it’s been an amazing journey to witness. He’s a dominant player and truly exciting to watch.”

Orangeburg County School District Superintendent Shawn D. Foster stated, “At Orangeburg County School District, we are proud of all our student-athletes. Jordan is another outstanding example of the excellence our students demonstrate both on the court and in the classroom.”
